Inner City Walks



Harbourside: Darling Harbour to Woolloomooloo

Start at Darling Harbour, and follow the shoreline north. On the way you'll pass the Barangaroo, Sydney Harbour Bridge, Sydney Opera House, walk around Farm Cove and the perimeter of the Royal Botanical Gardens, take in the harbour views at Mrs Macquarie's Chair, then walk through bushland above Woolloomooloo Bay, with views to Garden Island. Return to the city centre through The Domain and Hyde Park.





Royal Botanical Gardens Heritage Walk

The site of the Royal Botanic Garden Sydney has significant examples of the early history and development of Sydney since European settlement. Featured on the walk is the Lion Gate in the 1812 Macquarie Wall, and the site of Sydney's first zoo. This 1 1/2 hour walk is self-guided. Colonial Walk In Modern Sydney

A free guided tour, this 2 1/2 hour walk covers both Downtown Sydney and The Rocks. It contains carefully selected information with historic content, but is always interesting, fun and entertaining. Provided by Free Tours Sydney, an independent tour provider not paid or sponsored by any organization. They rely entirely on contribution offered to us by those who have enjoyed the day. Daily at 10.30am, archibald Fountain, Hyde Park.





Governor Arthur Phillip's Sydney

A self-guided walking tour in the vicinity of Circular Quay which identifies the location of the buildings of 1788 Sydney. The locations are taken from a chart prepared by Capt. Hunter and Lieut. Bradley in March 1788 which gives an insight into what Sydney was like in its first year. It will be helpful to have a current map of the Circular Quay area with you as you take this walk.





Royal Botanical Gardens Guided Walks

The Royal Botanical Gardens hosts a number of free guided walks. A walking tour of the gardens for individuals or small family groups is conducted daily at 10.30 am (except Public Holidays) - allow 1.5 hours. A free walk begins at at 1 pm (Mar-Nov only, except Public Holidays) Mon-Fri - allow 1 hour. Walks depart from the Information Counter at the Palm Grove Centre.

The Rocks Walking Tours

The Rocks Walking Tours  specialist trained local guides provide walking tours within the heart of historic and picturesque Rocks precinct, departing daily at 10.30am and 1.30pm from their office handily located within The Rocks. The tour is conducted within intimate groups of no more than 25 people for a duration of 90 minutes covering approximately 2 kilometres at a leisurely pace. Fees apply. Ph (02) 9247 6678.
